Emma Wong – Trial Practitioner – Research Nurse
Emma originally trained as a Therapeutic Radiographer, practising at Addenbrooke’s for 4 years treating cancer patients of many different types, before specialising as a Clinical Trial Practitioner in Pancreatic Cancer Trials. Her role mainly involves interaction with patients; being a main point of contact for trial participants throughout the trials process, performing assessments such as ECGs and toxicity assessments, and collecting data as specified in the clinical trial protocol. She also assists in the identification of patients eligible for trials, arranging investigations and treatments, and liaising with various teams throughout the hospital such as chemotherapy, dietetics and radiology. She provides information and support to patients and their loved ones, from ensuring they are informed enough to consent to a trial, to referring them to other services such as district nurses.
